Statutory organs
The Foundation is headed by a board chaired by Dr. Tessen von Heydebreck.
Board members are Michael Münch and Peter Spitze, corporate attorney at Deutsche Bank. Managing director is Jörg-Eduard Krumsiek.

Capital resources
The endowment fund amounts to 132.5 million euros.

Founding
The Deutsche Bank Foundation was founded in January 2005 as a civil law foundation, and pursues public-benefit objectives exclusively and directly. It was created through the merger of the “Deutsche Bank Foundation Alfred Herrhausen Helping People Help Themselves” and the “Deutsche Bank Cultural Foundation”.

The predecessor foundations
“Deutsche Bank Foundation Alfred Herrhausen Helping People Help Themselves”
The Deutsche Bank first institutionalised its social commitment in 1987, with the foundation “Helping People Help Themselves” founded on the initiative of Alfred Herrhausen, Spokesman of the Board at that time (and named for him following his assassination). Since then, over 60 million euros has been raised for helping people in desperate situations, for giving assistance to disadvantaged youths and for a wide range of social and education-related projects.

“Deutsche Bank Cultural Foundation”
In 1995, to mark the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Deutsche Bank, our myriad cultural commitments were united under the “Deutsche Bank Cultural Foundation”. Over 700 projects in the areas of the fine arts, theatre, literature and contemporary music had received funding of some 30 million euros by the end of 2004.
