The promotion and education of young musicians is central to the philosophy of the Kronberg Academy. Every two years - in alternation with the Cello Festival – master classes are held for cellists, giving exceptionally talented young musicians the opportunity to study and rehearse pieces for concert performance with internationally renowned cellists. The teaching sessions are open to the public.

At the end of the master classes, the 5,000 euro Landgraf-von-Hessen prize is awarded. In addition to the cash prize, the award offers the young cellists an opportunity to perform together with the world’s most distinguished cellists, as part of the Kronberger Cello Festival. Internationally renowned soloists, together with distinguished orchestras and ensembles, gather in Kronberg for this event. The individual concerts are characterised particularly by their adjacency to the audience. The academy enjoys an excellent reputation as both an international cello forum and a platform for the promotion of young talents.
